Engine is running fine with no hiccups. Other symptom is if it gets over 4000 rpm, the Guardian System kicks in with the continuous beep. Throttling back gets the 4 beeps then it will beep again in two minutes. Oil level in the onboard tank was a little low. I filled that up. The tank on the outboard itself is full. I'thou thinking it'due south fuel filter and/or water separator. I can't discover anything that tells me how or where to bank check/modify the fuel separator. Is that the aforementioned thing as the fuel filter? If non, tin can someone guide me to how to cheque/change the fuel separator delight. Thanks! | Re: How to modify fuel filter/water separator Mercury Optimax [Re: Jeff Schiller] #11087103 09/06/15 ten:05 PM | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 25,769 Allison1 TFF Guru | TFF Guru Joined: December 2003 Posts: 25,769 | Its on the port side right next to the fuel pump. The fuel/h2o filter has a wire on the lesser that is for the water alarm. Only pull the wire loose and put a strap wrench on the the filter. It should come up off hands. Supplant it with a new filter and sensor or accept the sensor off the old filter and put it on the new i. | Re: How to change fuel filter/water separator Mercury Optimax [Re: Jeff Schiller] #11087493 09/07/fifteen 02:27 AM | Joined: April 2010 Posts: 222 wkh2006 Outdoorsman | Outdoorsman Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 222 | Go ahead and replace the fuel filter. Just I bet you will end up having to supervene upon the engine mounted oil tank. | Re: How to modify fuel filter/water separator Mercury Optimax [Re: Jeff Schiller] #11087518 09/07/15 02:48 AM | Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 10,051 Jeff Schiller OP TFF Guru | OP TFF Guru Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 10,051 | I have the fuel filter and volition change tomorrow. Would the alert keep to go off and the engine run ordinarily if the on board oil tank was defective? | Re: How to modify fuel filter/h2o separator Mercury Optimax [Re: Jeff Schiller] #11087570 09/07/15 03:46 AM | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 222 wkh2006 Outdoorsman | Outdoorsman Joined: April 2010 Posts: 222 | It could be water in fuel but more likely is the bladder inside the engine mounted oil tank. By the way if information technology happens to be water in fuel, replacing the fuel filter won't ready the trouble because the water in fuel sensor on your motor is threaded into the bottom of the vst tank. And to answer your question about the motor running normal. The float sensor in that tank has a low oil level and a critically low level. Low level will give 4 beeps every 2 min and critically low level will put it into gaurdian way. Merely considering there is oil in that tank doesn't mean the float sensor is working. | Re: How to change fuel filter/water separator Mercury Optimax [Re: Jeff Schiller] #11088044 09/07/fifteen 04:25 PM | Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 10,051 Jeff Schiller OP TFF Guru | OP TFF Guru Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 10,051 | As predicted, fuel filter didn't cure the ills. If you lot did not clean out under the fuel filter with a suction bulb when changing you could have the same trouble. Had some 'telephone a friend' help from a very helpful TFFer who walked me through changing the oil reservoir and haemorrhage the system. No more than beeps. Thanks again, friendly TFFer. | Moderated by banker-e'er angling, chickenman, Derek 🐝, Duck_Hunter, Fish Killer, J-2, Jacob, Jons3825, Nocona Brian, Rockie Martin, Toon-Troller, Uncle Zeek, Weekender1 | |
